• CKC membership began in 1974.
• At 13 years old I received my first beagle, something that as a child that I had dreamed of.
• Competitions, training and volunteering began immediately under Elsie Murray and Marion
Postgate, which involved Conformation, Junior Handling, Obedience, Tracking and Ring
Stewarding.
• My breeding program, Sanway Beagles, began in 1976 which included guidance and involvement from the Judges Study Group under the auspices of Elsie Murray and Leslie Rogers and Judging Seminars.
• I received an abundance of canine education over the years and have never lost my thirst for more, adding to my already completed education and employment history.
• Education includes: BA from Simon Fraser University (Major Criminology & Minor Political Science).
• Employment includes: 27 years for B.C. Pavillon Corp. at BC Place Stadium primarily in Operations and moving to Engineering (Building Systems, Roof support, Emergency Resources). It was here that I learned about the intricacies of event management and flow of Financial and Human Resources.
• Through my involvement in the canine world, I have attended hundreds of shows in Western Canada and the U.S. and have travelled to specialty shows in Europe and Australia.
• My business acumen included my being a vendor at shows selling 1,900 different titles of dog books and videos to breeders, judges, dog-trainers and public.
• Lower Mainland Dog Fanciers requested me to teach their juniors program. I agreed believing it to be short stint, but it ran for 26 years.
• Furthermore, I joined Lower Mainland Dog Fanciers, (LMDF) which was the largest show in Canada at the time, and in which I am still very active enjoying a variety of roles past and present: teaching Juniors, Agility for Juniors, Obedience for Juniors, Judging Classes coordination assisting also with, the intricacies of set up and take downs, hiring vendors, ring stewarding, running matches, hiring judges, organizing judge tours and coordination.
• I was the one, if not the first, to introduce to this region to rally trials, Junior Scholarship
Challenge, Junior Obedience, Meet the Breeds, CGN testing. In the past 6 years we have added Scent Detection and seminars to the mix regarding health, performance events and training.
• Instructed at more than 40 Handling Classes every year for over 40 years.
• Trained the most Junior Showmanship qualifiers for Westminster, Juniors, Crufts and the Eukanuba Challenge and the No.1 Junior in the USA.
• In 2008, I became the show secretary for LMDF as well as for other clubs throughout B.C.
• For the CKC I chaired the Junior Committee for Junior Obedience.
• I performed the roles of Club Secretary, Treasurer, CKC Junior Representative, Show
Superintendent, Event Secretary, Instructor and Lecturer for various organizations.
• I have handled approximately 45 dog breeds overall, and have titled dogs in the US and Canada in Conformation, Obedience, Tracking, Agility and Rally.
